Experiences of a Fulbright Visiting Scholar

The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program provides grants to approximately 850 foreign scholars from over 100 countries to conduct post-doctoral research at U.S. institutions up to one  academic year.

Dr. Dawit Abate

Dr. Dawit Abate was awarded a 2017-2018 Fulbright African Senior Research Program (FASRP) grant to pursue mushroom cultivation and development research at Institute for Food and Agricultural Science (IFAS) at the University of Florida.  He was one of 84 Fulbright Scholars from 50 countries participating in the 2017 Fulbright Visiting Scholar Enrichment Seminar, Leveraging Strategic Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Long Term Success, held at the University of San Diego (USD).  Through the Fulbright program, Dr. Dawit was successful in establishing relationships with institutions and research scientists in the United States for future collaboration and joint research projects in the field of mushroom biology and cultivation.
